Emotional Intelligence (EQ) Quick Survey William Howatt
Ph.D., Ed.D. In his book Working with Emotional Intelligence , Daniel Goleman defines emotional intelligence (EQ) as the capacity for recognizing one’s own feelings and those of others; for motivating ourselves; and for managing emotions in ourselves and in our relationships. When we understand emotional intelligence, we are better able to change our focus, to expand the feelings we want and do not want, so we can find the peace, personal balance and happiness that we desire. Emotions are powerful and when not properly managed can damage one’s mental health. The purpose of this quick survey is to help you evaluate your current EQ. EQ is a useful skill that can help you better cope with the demands and challenges of life. This tool is meant for educational purposes only – it is not a clinical assessment tool.. |
